This is one smart device. When you have no visitors, the Party Timer is simply a cool digital clock, but as the party gets going this gadget analyzes the noise level and displays what sort of party you are having.

The Party Timer predicts 9 different party types by analyzing the average sound level in your home. The ratings range from the quiet “No Party” to the extreme “Atomic Party” which is comparable to nuclear war breaking out.

A rock concert is usually around 110 decibels. Pain threshold for sound is around 130. A jet engine during takeoff might hit 140. The “Atom Party” level of 160 decibels can cause permanent hearing damage (and may kill small mammals).
