Is it allowed for a Muslim woman to wear pants?
Assalaamu alekum warahamatullahi wabarakatahu
First: Extent [Awrah].
The first criterion is the extent of the body that should be covered. This is different for men and women. The extent of covering obligatory on the male is to cover the body at least from the navel to the knees. For women, the extent of covering obligatory is to cover the complete body except the face and the hands up to the wrist. If they wish to, they can cover even these parts of the body.
2nd: She must be wearing Jilbaab (an additional cover over the clothes/an over coat) and Khimaar (head cover.)
3rd: The pant that she wants to wear should not pertain to men . (There are pants in the market that are specific for females.) [SAME FOR MEN’S HIJAAB]
4th: It should not be so tight that it reveals the figure of legs of hips but it must be loose (though you’re wearing Jilbaab.) [SAME FOR HIJAAB]
5th: The purpose of wearing pants should not be to imitate non-believing women.
6th: In addition to the above conditions if the dress is worn outside of her house, it should not have any particular features that make it attractive or unusual. [SAME FOR MEN’S HIJAAB]
All these conditions are set for the woman to protect her only and to protect her honour as well from humiliation or from being ravished by evil persons.
Finally a Muslimah should totally submit herself to the Commands of Allah. And should believe firmly that all benefits are only in following the Shariah, and all disadvantages are in disobeying Allah.
If your pant/dress/clothes fulfill all these 6 criterias then only can we say Pants are allowed for men and women.
Remember Sisters: -
KHIMAAR IS AN OBLIGATION.
JILBAAB IS AN OBLIGATION.
