I was really looking forward to Ric's as I had heard and read wonderful things. However, my experience was not one that would make me a repeat customer.

Starting with items that I can praise:

1) Yummy Hotdogs (although you should get two for that price!)
2) Pinto Beans are done to perfection and spiced nicely!
3) Sweet Tea (aka Iced Sweetened Tea) was delicious and the refills were never late!
4) Fried Mushrooms were fresh and crispy. Although I could have done without the ranch sauce.

Now, the bad news:

1) Coleslaw was not well flavored, stick to even KFC!
2) Biscuits were canned biscuit quality (and this is coming from a Southerner who grew up on biscuits and gravy and makes a mean pan of biscuits herself!). Not light and fluffy instead very heavy and clearly overworked. The milk gravy was fine but it would be better served on the side instead of on top of the biscuits.
3)Sausage was made out of poor quality meat and hence very dry although seasoned well.
4) The hamburger was a big disappointment. Again, poor quality, dry meat with a flavor bordering on liver. Both myself and my dinner companion felt sick after having only a bite (and continued to feel sick for two days). Not to mention that it was a tiny portion for the price. And what's with the 5 pringles chips as a side? Again, portion and quality should be balanced with price.
5)Pancakes were also not light and fluffy but very heavy and gooey. Like a piece of lead hitting your stomach.
6) The dessert for the day was cobbler but it was made with canned fruit (this time, peaches). I know it is hard to find nice, ripe peaches in Doha (a true struggle) but it is possible to find another seasonal fresh fruit that would work just as well.

Altogether, The wait staff was great but the prices were very high for the poor decor (nicer tables and chairs would be a start) and mediocre quality of the food. Instead of revisiting Ric's, I'll just whip up a tastier meal at home.
