Another International Sporting Event in Doha
On March 21st and 22nd, the FINA Diving World Series is coming to Doha. To be held at the Hamad Aquatic Centre behind Villaggio, the competition is hosting the world's best divers from 15 different countries.
14 year-old British diver Tom Daley will be competiting, along with Australian Gold medallist Matthew Mitcham.
Check out how talented this kid is (Daley):

Events include 3-metre springboard and 10-m platform diving. Have you ever seen any one diver from 10-metres? It is so scary.
Will you attend this event? I haven't been in Doha long, but I've already seen the Qatar Open, Qatar Masters, and now this. What do you think of the international sport scene in Doha?
Hi Guys
Took some good shots last night. It was really a wonderful venue and the atmosphere was great. One ie really close to the action. I had so much fun Iam also going tonight to take more shots (actually I want to improve on last night shots. Bear with me a couple of days till I edit them on the laptop and make them suitable for posting here.
If anyone is thinking if they should go or not, don't hesitate. You will enjoy it.
That Boy is really talented
I will be there to see more action from this and others swimmers
C u there guys
And it was really good. Its definitely worth going. Starts at 6 tommorow. The highlight which is the 10m platform is tomorrow. Do go!!
Raver, looking forward to seeing your shots taken today
thanks

Gee thx a lot for that good news. I will be there tonight with me gear and hopefully I can snap some good action shots. I will be more t han happy to pics on this site. Stay tuned.
PS I would love to see the photos you take, maybe you can post a few on Qatar Living?
Hi Unknown Raver,
Cameras are definitely allowed. *No* flash photography please, as it disturbs the athletes. There were several fans in the stands this morning using high-grade digital cameras. Come out and enjoy yourself. :)
Hello Meresie
Would you know if photography will be allowed ? and what about using flash, is that ok or will it disturb the competitors?
I ask because the last thing I want to happen is for me to turn up and be refused to take my camera inside with me. It hapopened to me at a certain event last week.
I will be using a high grade digital SLR and not a small compact camera. Again I am mentioning this because the place where I was denied entry last week apparently has a policy against "professional cameras"
Appreciate any clarification as I would live to go tonight and get some good action shots.
BTW, I tried ringing the comittee but all I am getting is answering machine.
Thanks
The Hamad Aquatic Centre is open to the public. The divers are here and competition will begin at 10 a.m.
There are evening competitions beginning at 6 p.m.

Well I think it's nice of Qatar to invite Australia's first openly gay athlete to compete in Doha.
Perhaps a sign of things to come for this country.

The event goes from 10 a.m until 12 p.m. in the mornings, and 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the evenings. See you there!
Matthew Mitcham is confirmed. They won't have a competition without the reigning Gold medalists.
It is a free event and everyone is encouraged to attend and support your favourite athlete. There is even a young Qatari who will participate.
The events will be broken up into morning and evening competitions, so you can attend only one, or both. The finals will happen in the evening, so people who work during the day won't miss them.
Again, the dates are Saturday, Mrch 21 and Sunday March 22. I will post more information when I hear it.
I bet lots of young girls will cheer for Daley. ;)
Immigration is going to let Matthew Mitchum compete in Doha?
Perhaps his visa will be denied.
oh sounds good! Fingers crossed they have some competitions on in the evening or weekend so I can go and watch it
pls let us know if you have more info about this. Thanks:)
