Hi there
does anyone know what beaches are cool to go to ... safe , clean , sandy ... where i can go with my daughter to?
I have tried calling some of the hotels though the beaches are for member only ???? :S
West bay is fairly close to me but is there any part of it i can go to without paying charges or through an hotel which actually lets non members in?

thanks

Hi, yes we have been to one before the boat harbour, we could not believe the amount of rubbish!! It is by far our favourite one though. They should introduce QR1000 fines for dumping rubbish, that would sort out the problem!

OK, I am male only, new to Doha, my wife won't be here before 4 months, and I don''t like gyms, I love beaches, laying there, swimming.

Honestly I don't like going to beaches where only males are around, no bad thoughts there, but it's normal for a male to be in places where there are the opposite sex, mingles places are more clean and polite, believe me, I've been to places with only males around

So please any good recommendations for good mingles beach to go to? place where I can go in as a single male

seems really nice ...its brand new though for most of the nice beaches we need to have a 4x4 so that you can discover them .... literally.

this one is before the boat harbour also and still ok for cars...

we also went to Katara beach......very funny!! Security guards run after you all the time, you can't do this, you can't do that. The kids went and took their t-shirts off, security guards did 100 meters sprint to tell them they can't do that. My son wanted to feel how cold the water was before paying to go on the beach - no sorry you can't do that! On a positive, they have jet ski's.....oops no sorry you can't do that, they are for life guards only.

The kids did enjoy the fun slides and said it was well worth the QR25!

The thought of sunbathing in full kit as temp rises - makes me think its a no no for expats!

We have also been to the other beaches as mentioned in this thread - they are all disgusting, dirty and only good enough for walking along, taking the dog etc.

Is anyone aware of any other new beaches?

Yes in all Qatar, a hot country with plenty of water, there is not one avg public beach that residents can enjoy, buy a cold bottle of water, and go take a piss in a clean bathroom if need be. this is as equally retarded as having only 1!!! Restaurant on all corneesh that charges 40 riyals for a small salad. 2022 baby, let's get people here just to piss'm off!

Hi we went to have a look at Katara beach today .... and whilst its just around the corner .... you have to pay 100Qtr per adult to get in then you will also have charges for every single bit more you may want to access ... rides etc ....

it looks lovely very clean and well presented .... the water is crystal clear and no waves ....

Downsides besides the fact i think its a bit dear to have to pay 100 to go to the beach .... each time per person .... is that women can not wear a swimsuit so you can sunbathe in shorts and short sleeve shirts ... thats it ....

Its understandable because of its location ... though personaly i think i prefer driving out of doha and go to a beach where i can relax and not get all sorts of sun tan marks on me ehhehehehe ....

It looked lovely and i think maybe to access before the big heat comes through as a one of every now and then maybe but not willing to pay to use a beach all the time....

The Cultural Village (Katara) beach is still to be opened for Public.

Nothing like Fuwairit & Al Ghariyah Beaches...the only problem is the distance of around 80kms from Doha towards North.

@Cat Buys

Don't know if it's a new public beach in progress, but I was at the "Cultural" Village the other day and they were doing something hardcore on the beach there with lots of sand and some heavy machinery.

No such thing as a clean beach, I'm afraid - the majority of beach users are filthy wretches who drop their litter all over the place. Make sure your kids wear shoes at all times.
