... has a GPS we can set the destination coordinates and then make sure to meet you half way to see if you guys need any help. One group will follow us, another group will follow another leader with a GPS too to make sure both groups end up at the same end destination. Please let us know what we can do to help. Maybe a meet between ALL people who want to go to Sealine, whether on foot or not, by middle of next week? Then we can discuss any doubts, questions and generally meet each other? What do you guys think? :)

as of the moment, this is the names of those who are in for the trip, some will go by 4x4 and others will go on foot. alumnar is taking care of the 4x4 group.

as for those who want's to go with us on foot(trek to inland sea), we need to do a better planning. to make it safe and fun.

trek can be done with or without support. only the load of trekkers will vary. if we have the final list of those who wants to trek we can discuss things agree with a route and establish meeting points with the support group if ever there is a support.

who will volunteer for the support? support group will meet the trekkers at two meeting points along the trail, or if they want to check trekkers from time to time that would be better.

for those who are not so familiar with the 4x4 routes to inland sea and for others who wanted to go straight they can join the convoy with the rest and set up the camp.

By Ines_pt• 5 Nov 2009 08:29

... and the driving separate. We will need to guide the drivers - and then the more experienced ones can come back for the trekkers once we decided where we set up camp for the event. We can't afford people getting lost and at the same time driving through the desert demands a certain amount of speed to make sure we don't get stuck in the sand. The ones coming back for the trekkers can then follow the coastline. We need to consider we probably have people (like us) travelling with children who want to get to the end destination slightly faster.

As I said - everything can be arranged, we just need to make sure there are people willing to drive back for the ones who are trekking.

Go Sport has those wonderful water backpacks for trekkers - if you don't have one you might want to look into that too.

yes the shortest route is along the coast. alumnar is right there were dunes along, we will pass on top of the dunes to avoid going up and down. anyway it's not a hard route to plan.

yes, we can set up pick up points(resting points) along the route for those who can't continue or wants to refill water.there's no need to carry heavy packs anymore.

almnar you can start a new topic. jst tag us all here. our friends from the medics group were in also. no worries about first aid.lol:)

trekking?

never thought about it. In november-december has to be a possibility...

I would like to try, but its too early, I cannot do plans like that three weeks in advance.

It is possible to keep in touch and confirm one week in advance.

(I will forget, what about email or FB?)

To have a car support is a great idea, so BBQ and tents can be waiting in inland sea for the ppl, instead of carrying all the weight.

I totally agree with you :) the more the merrier!!! Looking forward to it already.

We can't do the coast route though - high cliffs will stop us. We will do the easy route there and back and if there are any people who want to they can dunebash off the camp when they want to (or do a desert trek off the camp too) :)

... but we need to check what route the 'walkers' want to take as we want to be able to help them out if needed - it is a long way!

The other thing is if somebody is familiar with a good place to set up camp for the night. We also need to get wood (hubby already started collecting from work!) and arrange whatever else is necessary closer to the time.

Should we create a topic just for this Desert Camp day/night to make sure everybody sees it as the title of this topic might keep a lot of people away from it (the non-walkers like me! LOL!)??
