Dress Code, Weather and Places to Chill

Well gonna be headin to Doha for a week just wanted to be sure of the proper dress code as eventhough in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia its fine but Qatar being a muslim country just rather be sure plus its my first time there.

Q1. Would a skirt just below the knees be accepted or best not to go there?

Q2. Being mix-parentage would it be safer just to wearing somethin traditional like a punjabi suit as its a pants with a long/short dress but the pants covers everthing. (would that be better?) Or would it look weird for work envoirment though its fine here...

Q3. Been told weather is chilly in Doha around this time of year. Do i need boots n etc or is casual be fine? Heading over around there 3rd week of Oct.

Q4. What places would be nice to hangout and chill that is safe as bare in mind i'm a single female. Though I have my boss and 2 office mates along bu might wanna explore a lil on my own as the aint into going out. Is photography allowed as notice some posts here says its not allowed (Wished I knew people there)

Sorry for to many questions but do hope to get some feed backs on this. Gonna be there for a week plus and next depending on the project. * I know too many question but rather be prepared ;-)

Thanks is advance for the help on this :-)

Thanks for the advice and respond. Well mention the mix parentage portion just so that i wouldnt get feedback saying its not proper to be wearing it as some might think its not right if i used a punjabi suit as notice some posting which said some local might find it disrespectful wearing something traditional if it's not your usual trait. Hence wanted to clarify that point. Thanks again for the feedback.

What has parentage got to do with affecting your sense of dress? just have the common sense not to dress in anything that comes above the knee or reveals u're shoulders or is so tight u can see everything then u'll be absolutely fine.

Well there is nothing official about the dress sode in Qatar as such but being a muslim country its advisable to wear modest outfits especially at public places like malls and theatres. People do wear outrageous western outfits that doesn't suit the environment here but then its your choice. If you like people watching you then you may wear anything that you're usually used to, else a modest dress covering the legs and top are worth an advice.

Places to chill are generally the beaches if you prefer outdoor locations but then bikinis are not seen much here. Most muslim women enter the sea with the traditional "abaya" on.

Other places to chill out are the malls and theatres. There are nice malls all over the city: City Center, Villagio and Landmark among the prominent.

The weather isn't too cool here in Oct/Nov. By the middle of December, it does get a bit too cold and windy. This is coupled by rain for about 2/3 weeks in December. If you come from a cold country, you won't likely be trouble much.

Lastly have a nice and pleasant stay:)

1. That would be acceptable

2. I don't really see how your parentage is connected to what you wear.

3. It's not chilly yet, but the temperature is dropping.

4. Photography is allowed in most places, but you shouldn't snap religious or official buildings, and always ask locals' permission before photographing them.
