Hello all,

if I will move to Doha I would like to practise my sport, sailing.

Option 1) I will bring my sailboat from Europe.. it is far and a bit dangerous.. but, are there some nice marinas in Doha where and european can rent a place?

Option 2) I will sell mine, and buy another one there. Do is there a bit of market for sailboat there?

bye!

Hi,

I am Kuwait based and am considering selling my boat if you are interested. I am looking to bring another boat to Kuwait. My boat is a 3/4 tonner - Eliminator 32. We have a small but active club here and race around the cans every second week.

If you are looking to bring a boat, sea freight is the best option. I have done some research, a 38' yacht will cost 25 - 30 K USD from Europe or the states.

best regards

Yes you can rent a place in a marina in Doha, but so far it's very difficult. Marina are full

Yes there is a "small" market, but need time to find (Dubai, Muscat). The prices are the same as Europe.

There is the Doha sailing club, the membership cost is about 2000QR a year and 650QR for deposit for a single member. they have lasers and 470's that you will have access to at anytime. http://www.qatarsailing.org/

There is no market for sailboats here. If you do find one it will cost you 2 or 3 times what the boat is worth.

there is another sailing company at one of the hotels, they rent several types of boats and very expensive to me.

If you go with Option 1 be careful going around Somalia
