How to apply for US B1/B2 Visa? Please help.
Can any one tell me:
1.)The prerequisite and formalities for applying US B1/B2 (Visit) visa for me, my wife and kid. We are holding Indian Passport and residents of Qatar. My wife’s brother and family is in US, we want to visit them, they will send any invitations if required.
2.)What will be the validity of such a visa? My RP in Qatar is renewed on annual basis and is getting expired by mid of Dec, will be renewed next week for next year.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks tomultra, Luppu67 & the-birdie. I shall apply and post the developments; Off course I don’t have any intention in looking for a job there or staying back.
Normally it is a easy procedure...
u may need to provide the invitation,,, u may have to take an insurance policy ( travel insurance )
also to show of accommodation where you will stay..
also i think u need a letter from sponsor in Qatar
anyway, my husband got it in 3 working days
it was for 10 years
The link given by another member will give you more info. Some thing I would like to share are based on my recent experience.
The main consideration during interview is , you have to demonstrate strong ties back home to convince the consular officer that you will return after the visit.
having blood relations in US is always a challenge and goes delta.
It depend how long you are in Doha or any other countries.Bottom line is you have to prove that you will leave US after the proposed visit.
I got 5 years visa and some of my friends got an year or less. It all depends on the consular officer taking interview.
They normally do fair with all, if your case is genuine you have a chance. provide all documents to demonstrate you will not stay back in US. all the best !!
