We'd been there in 2007; flying from Jakarta-Indonesia by Airasia to LCC Airport. From it, took a bus trip to Genting.

We stayed in First World Hotel, what I could remember a package deal that allows you to extend the stay with 50% reduced price and get discounted price of entrance ticket to theme park, and free cable car ride. Deluxe room is recommended. Hotel breakfast was humble though. there are also several hotels surrounding but First World is the best for location.

Try a cable car ride and buy all-in-one ticket to the parks. You also might want to try Snow World, 3D cinema, Ripleys Believe it or Not.

Plan to spend at least 2 effective days for enjoying the whole complex.

Downside: Beware of taxi. There is no meter. Exercise your bargaining skills. However, there are other means of transportation to KL i.e. bus, rented van.

Enjoy!

it's not quite in KL. it's about an hour's drive from KL. one of the hilly resorts in Msia well known for its theme parks and casinos. would recommend Cameron Highlands if you prefer a quieter place.
