Preserve the Old Structure/Mosque

Couple of days before i visited the Al Shamal City, its very small and peaceful area and sea line is also very clean and beautiful.

Besides sea line beach park i found this old Mosque (Attach Photo). Its a old style mosque showing the construction patterns before the modernization of current Qatar.

Same style mosque is also located on sea line of Al Zakhira (الذخيرة).

I will request the concerned authorities they should preserve these two sites, as this will good addition in archaeological treasure of Qatar.

Thanks & Regards

they should heritage list it and preserve the original structure, if they need a bigger mosque then build one next to it BUT DONT bulldoze a relic of the country's rich history

Good news, today the Raya arabic newspaper wrote that Ashgal have started projects to renovate and reserve 3 mosques in Smisma and Abu Drouf. (Page 10 today)

This is part of the cultural heritage and should be preserved. We destroy such buildings and realise too late that part of our history has gone forever :O(

Now that you have brought it to attention...It will soon be pulled down .... and a new one built modeled in same style...

The old masjids in Qatar only have two "saf"s with a rear courtyard like the ones in Simaisma, Wakra & Zikreet. They are still utilized for congregational prayers five times a day.

Sadly, the one in Dhakira could use some repairs.

There are also 50-year old ruins of masjids and abandoned fisherman villages in Al Arish & Al Jemail worth visiting.

Just do a bit of research ( or just ask around) and you'll realize how many mosques, old and new, have been demolished by the local authorities.

Let's hope someone listens to you.

Like most rapidly modernizing countries Qatar is too willing to bulldoze its past in the name of progress.
