Qatar Airways commemorates 10 years of flying to South Africa
Qatar Airways is unaffected by the South African government’s new regulations requiring parents with children to carry their unabridged birth certificates when travelling to South Africa.
The airliner’s chief commercial officer Marwan Koleilat spoke during a media roundtable to commemorate 10 years of operations in South Africa.
Koleilat also announced the expansion of Qatar airways to include Durban as a new destination where the Doha-based airline will run four weekly flights via Johannesburg.
The airline’s South African expansion plans also include doubling its Johannesburg flights to two daily flights and the addition of daily flights from Cape Town where Qatar Airways currently operate four flights per week.
Zanzibar will now be the airliners 20th destination in Africa.
Flights from South Africa to overseas destinations will transit through Qatar’s Hamad International Airport.
Mr Koleilat said South Africa’s travel regulations have not impacted negatively on Qatar Airways’ operations to date.
