The World's First Fort Stadium...

Feel The Blues?

This is the world's first Red Stone Stadium, it's at Al Shamal and it's a sight to behold.

I feel it'll add to Qatar's tourist attractions once it's up and running by the beginning of September.

Congratulations, Qatar. That's another feather to add to your cap. Way to go.

It is a good idea to build in Qatar a stadium for cricket or larger stadium for other sports.

If there is any project in that matter I can build this through our company. Welcome to contact me at: [email protected]

Peter.

Is this the first time that this Red Stone Stadium was featured over the worldwide web? I searched on Google, and this was the only article about this stadium that came out. QL and Qatar should be very proud of you Greeker for posting this one!

Good pic greeker, thanks

I wish they put that money on HMC, increasing the facilities and number of doctors at the evening clinic.

Eeven when you go with a strong angina, after the first aids at emergency the appointment to see the specialist will be after 2 months...wht a joke. duh!!

If anyone is planning to go Al Shamal to see this Fort Stadium next weekend, let me know as I am not good in directions. I may follow you in my car. PM me if some one is going next weekend or so.

Peace.

It is not the first Fort Stadium. There are 3 in the States 1 in Canada and Australia and who knows . This is just typical Qtr BS. Its Doha being the centre of the universe crap.

Thanks for the pic Greeker, I passed that building one friday, a while back, while out for a drive and wandered what it was. Heres a link with more info on the football team that is going to call it home.....http://www.goalzz.com/main.aspx?team=226

Verisimilitude, when i was over here (Doha) in April, I could see lots of stars. Its a lovely building, I like the look of old buildings.

e.g Reception Desk in Orange surrounded by blue accessories

and great idea...

but there's something that always struck me as odd... whenever I travel to the east or the west... the sky is always blue whereas here in the Middle East, it looks grey!!

During sunrise though, its bluer... I think...

And in the night, you hardly see any stars here... whereas I remember when I was in college back in India, I could lie on the terrace for hours staring at the sky

that being said, if any of you try driving around Doha just after a strong shower, just have a look around to see the vibrancy of colours... the corniche looks soooo different after some rain... its beginning to be that time of year soon so look out for that...

its almost as if everything here is veiled in a thin layer of dust...

Anyway... Greeker I believe there is something you can do about blue using lens or filters or something...

Wanderer, thanks. Got the PM loud and clear and replied too.

rMS, thank you.

Britexpat, Thank you. It is not the original colour of the fort. It has been slightly corrected using picasa. But if anything, the real colour is more impressive.

Darude, you and what army? hehe.

Jared, no photoshop. Only picasa. No major corrections. Only basic stuff.

Jack, good point. Although I feel there are quite a few open grounds, the one near ASPIRE is good.

why can't they build more mental hospital instead of stadiums since the majority here are crazy people

Good work....

But I would really like them to build More "open grounds" than Stadiums...the ratio should be 3 open football size ground to 1 stadium.

I think Doha must be the only country in the world with more stadiums than open playgrounds!!

Building all these "world class" stadiums are of no use if the kids don't take to sports as a mode of enjoyment.

Nice Picture. How far is it from Doha? Where in Al Shamal is it? I have sent you a PM. Please could you respond? Thank you.

Edifis, thank you.

Someone new, like Novita said, the uniqueness quotient with such a building is high. If it’ll increase interest in a place like Al Shamal, so far removed from the Doha mainland, it’s a nice thing, isn’t it?

Salax85, I don’t think it’s so corny, but if you feel so, I cannot do anything to change your opinion. I feel it’s a magnificent structure.

Sonaam, thank you for the kind words.

Nadzmyrah. Thank you.

nice pic greeker but i kinda dont like the idea of an old looking new building meant solely to attract tourist attention.

They were working and they became self conscious when they saw me with the camera. I was practically lying on the ground and asked them to continue. That's how I got the picture.

But no, they did not pose. They were doing that before I passed by and continued to do what they were doing even when I was there.

is it me or that first 4 labours in the picture looks like somebody put it on there? they are exactly in the same distance with each other.
