VLCC launches Food Label Reading Session

Initiative to be held at participating QATAR hypermarkets and supermarkets

Qatar–Premierwellness brand VLCC commenceditsannual Anti-Obesity campaign with the launch of their ‘Food Label Reading Session’ to be held at hypermarkets and supermarkets across Qatar, today onwards.

“A recent World Health Organization report suggested that more than 2.1 billion people —close to 30 per cent of the global population—are overweight or obese.  As this public health issue grows, we are committed to helping raise awareness in Qatar by educating residents about the importance of food labels.  VLCC’s ‘Food Label Reading Session’ will focus on helping participants understand the contents of food labels, including nutritional values, to ensure they make informed choices while pursuing healthy eating habits”,said Mrs.VandanaLuthra, Founder, VLCC.

Topics being covered in the label reading sessions include product-specific information like serving size, calories, and nutrient information, as well as footnotes regarding Daily Values (DV).  The session will provide consumers with valuable insight regarding recommended dietary guidelines for important nutrients, including fats, sodium and fiber. Understanding food labels helps consumersmake quick, well-informed food choices, enabling a healthy well-balanced diet.

Since 2001, VLCChas been observing the 26th of November as Anti-Obesity Day™ and as a run up to the occasion undertakesvarious initiatives to create awareness about obesity and its ill effects.VLCC’s Anti-Obesity campaign has gained momentum over the years, receiving global recognition.
