AFC 2011

A Sad Day for India or was it?!
I had bet a 6 - 0 loss with 0ne goal every 15 miutes.
And for a while I thought it was going to be true.. at the very least the first half was as I had predicted. I expected the same in the second half but our boys held on till the end to lose at 4 - 0.
A big acomplishment by any standard... remember they were playing a worldcup team.
Our goal keeper was good.. he did his job well.
And I would`nt call the whole game a total disappointment. We did make it to the group stage of the AFC 2011, did`nt we... and we have 2 more games left... Miracles are known to happen.. So cheer up.
Its our fault really, no one seems to encourage football in India like they do cricket ( I like both games by the way ).
Although I have to say Hats Off to the Indian supporters, they were cheering the team on till the very end. If the whole of India had the same die hard attitude towards the Indian Football team. we would be going places. Fight On you boys in Blue.
Cheers

smarsin ... yeah true...

But the Goalkeeper saved at least 10 sure goals due to his goalkeeping skills...

Ok lets see in the next game :)

Jackmohan - even in world cup matches you can see 5-6-7 goals. Portugal defeated north korea for 7 goals....Even the same Australia defeated powerful Qatar (everybody know that Qatar is far away from India in football) for 4 goals in 2008....If Qatar can loose for 4 goals, why not India...

No steam in team India :-(

Like i said in one of my previous posts, they need set of 11 to play the first 45mins and another set of 11 to play the second 45mins :-P

They just couldn't outrun their opponents... with the ball or on the chase...

4 goals in Hockey is ok. But in football its just too much although it was better in the second half. I am surprised they reached this far with such a team.

Hey guys I was looking for a very supportive crowd here.

As I said we still have 2 more games and miracles do happen. I will agree with jack.. the indian team played with their heart and as soniya said failure is only a temporary setback. The never say die attitude keeps you going.

And guys even Iran did not get into the group stage... india did.. it is a big credit for a low ranking team o get this far.

Cheers

I would say well played India. No doubt, they are a weak team, but they played with their heart even though they had limited skill.

I think india got an entry by winning AFC Challenge Cup.

what you guys talking about, asians cant play football at all, except some countries can be counted on finger tips! Japan, korea & few! & when it comes to north america's, even middle east players like kids for them!

I'm pleased with India's yesterday's match. India is the least ranked team in the AFC and Australia is the top ranked team. So, we can't expect more than this, but only worse.

Oryx, Indians know football and we don't need your coaching.

Kawe, we didn't bribe anyone to get this tournament. We may be the worst, but we will play our best.

Even Qatar is Ranked Higher than India..

I have Socceroos as one of the favorites to lift the AFC Trophy.

Agreed the Indian supporters were very enthusiatic.

It was obvious they didn't have much of a clue about football but their enthusiasm made up for it!

Just tell them 'offside' is like a 'no ball'.

I expect the same for 1/2 dozen. I doubt how they are qualified to AFC Asian Cup with such a poor performance (maybe the worst in AFC Asian Cup 2011)

Trust me they will be grilled by Bahrain in next match on 14 Jan 2011 at the same stadium.

I they are really good then take my challenge. ;-)
