Even with all of United's depth — and the sense that this was the English champions' game to lose — they were beaten by the same sort of flowing tactics displayed by a team (Arsenal) they had soundly beaten to arrive at the final.
You don't hear Sir Alex Ferguson praise opposition. And when he does you better listen. "In fairness we were beaten by the best team. We weren't at our best. The first goal was a killer, it was a bad start to the game. If you give them the ball they will keep it all night."

As a Barcelona fan, I am thrilled with the victory.
As a football fan, I am disappointed with Man Utd, or better said with Ferguson! He freaked out and made the entire team freak out. They played a very conservative, defensive yet nervous game, in which they made Barcelona's mission much easier.
