I wanted to enter but missed the entry as it was full. Very frustrating if like me you enjoy keeping fit and having a challenge. Really wanted to do this here!

Good luck to all who will attempt this challenge. There will be two others and myself from work doing it and you won't miss us as we are going to make it a bit more challenging for ourselves.

What's 50 riyals? If you are an adventurous or fit person you won't mind paying this and you have to pay to enter most races or sporting events in the world anyway.

Instead of giving you prize money, they ask you to pay to do it. So wrong.

Errr... no... I think you have it covered

This drives me nuts. A 'healthy' activity is publicized as racing up the stairwell of one of Doha's tallest towers??

All in the name of promoting fitness and a healthy lifestyle?

Here's a thought, why not get rid of all those stupid golf carts ferrying all those fat lazy asses from the carpark to the restaurants at Katara?

Being fit and healthy is about simple, everyday lifestyle and diet choices.

* Promote the idea of walking from your car to the front door of Villagio, instead of needing to be dropped off at the door because you're so lazy you can't walk.

* Or pushing your own trolley in Carrefour, instead of getting the staff to do it for you.

* Walking in to a shop, instead of sitting on your fat ass in the carpark beeping the horn.

Anyone want to add more?

" It is strictly limited to a fixed number of entrants" just like the QNB mini marathon a month ago where people were jumping into the race at will, even 50 metres before the finish line and winning prizes. I bet someone sits on the 48th floor and waits until they catch a glimps of the first races/

So, you have to pay to acquire a lung full of dust, by running up the damn torch, and this is a health initiative?

By Prism• 12 Mar 2012 22:00

'family only'...sounds good...I can peacefully continue with my beer then...:)

There's no doubt this has been done in other parts of the world and now they want to try and bring this here in Qatar but still come on, running up the torch and yeah suddenly they will announce "family" only!!

50 bucks to run up the torch? I can play 2 hours at hotshots with that money.

It wouldn't be healthy for me if I tried it believe me.

It's a health promotion initiative. There's nothing funny about it. Infact such initiatives need our support.

Now if it was a slinky race down the stairs that would be fun. I wonder how long it would take to reach the bottom?
