Doha's Olympic dream gets Lord Coe's support

Paandu
By Paandu

Qatar has already bid twice for the Olympic Games but failed on both occasions. but Lord Sebastian Coe, who oversaw the successful bid and organisation of the 2012 London Olympic Games, has spoken strongly in favour of Doha's dream. It's a massive win for a country hell bent on investing and promoting sport...

I think all schools here have some sort of sporting facilities...

But then what about those who dont go to school... there are quite a few...

what about those in Labour Camps?

what about guys like Ksarat, Ashwin Doka-nahi ;-) and Khanan? Who love to play cricket or hockey... but are forced to play in parking lots... and if Baladiya comes they have to run...

brit...oh sure...but then we didnt go about abusing, insulting or getting physical with our teachers, did we? Atleast not me and my classmates.

Come on .. Kids love sports.. Used to be the most enjoyable lesson of the week - apart from cross country running in the rain and cold that is :O)

If teachers in classrooms get called names and mistreated, guess the instructors / coach would be punched and beaten black and blue on the fields cos he/she in all probability would be an expat. Not a good idea IMO to start sporting faciltiies at schools here.

Agree with Thelo that hey need to invest in Sports at grass root levels which means every school should have access to decent sporting facilities including grounds and pools.

no need for schools to bear the cost...

Put up an open ground every 5km radius.... no need for growing grass also.... just plain flat ground... sports will develop on its own... Is that too much for Qatar?

This is Shivaji Park... this is where the biggest name in Cricket (Sachin Tendulkar) learnt his trade... he couldnt afford it if he were to pay to learn cricket...

and here is him packing for his 1st international Tour

Today he rules over the Cricket World like no one ever did.

Thelonius... its just an example... they all grew up playing on free ground... without paying any kind of FEES... and coached FREE...

There were other hockey, football, volleyball, gymnastic practices going on in that ground simultanously...

Is there anything even similar... anywhere in the multi-million stadium of Qatar?

Promoting SPORTS?!!?? or purchasing sport clubs?

Just by announcing fake sports day doesnt make a country promoting sports

A country that doesnt have a single free municipal play/sports ground

I wish Qatar wins the bid... It would be great...

but promoting sports?...lol
