The Earth’s 75% Water, let’s Race It!

I love the motto of the Qatar marine Sports Federation (and that’s the title of this post). I went to see the jet ski race event at the Doha Corniche and was lucky enough to accompany the race organisers out into the sea.

I should admit it was a brilliant experience. I was in a speedboat and went into the outer sea, right to where the race started. The wind, coursing through my hair at almost 60knots (almost 70MPH or 113KMPH) an hour, was pure magic.

And imagine my surprise when the driver, who incidentally also drives the Qatar 96 boat, said that his boat could go at speeds in excess of 150KMPH or about 280KMPH.

Truly scary. But well, I’d my thrill. It was an exhilarating afternoon, after all!
