I almost didn't go to this game because of your post and the one below you. Why would you post something so blatantly false. It was QR20 to get in, I got a free baseball cap, scarf and flag. I sat next to Qataris on one side of me and some Eastern Europeans on the other side and watched a great game.

Please KNOW what you're talking about before you post something that could influence people's decisions

The match was ok,the atmosphere was calm,QS on thge contrary,Russia broght here their best players who most of them play in european leagues.

Yes Lev Yashin was not there, Also among the notable missing was Mikhail Gorbachev, Vladimir Lenin, Yuri Gangrene, Valerie Urine, Josef Stalin, Alexander Popov and Yuri Andropov and Putin.

Had these big players been there in the squad Russia would have won by atleast 6 goals!

Ok, but I think it also depends on who was playing. I don't think Russia brought its best players, rather 2nd or 3d class players... while Qatar was presented by definitely the best ones...:)

You must be quite young. i remember the golden age of the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs and the edmonton oilers... :o)

Since those heady days, the USA has dominated Ice Hockey..

No, Maple Leafs have never been the strongest team...:) i still like them though... But Canada in general I believe is the strongest hockey empire anyway :)

Too sad.. Once they had invested a fortune into sport, especially into soccer, hockey, gymnastics.. Just to show to the rest of the world that they are the best ones :).. Too sad, the gas-richest country in the world doesnt have funds to support their sportsmen anymore... Well, another reason to stick to Maple Leafs hockey team :)

By britexpat• 29 Mar 2011 00:46

Sadly, the Maple Leafs and the Canadiens are not the major forces they used to be :O)

Oh, to be honest i am certainly a fan of hockey, in the first place... But as far as I know, Russia has great records in the world soccer history.. Too sad to hear it became just an average.. Hopefully they will return back their great power and name...

Is Arshavin coming? If he plays then I feel sorry for Qatar's defenders already. He played on Saturday so may get a rest for this one.

In the last few years, the Russian football Federation has not had the funds it needed or the training/support facilities. The finance has been mainly from the Chelsea owner abrahmovich, who also supposedly pays the salary of the current manager.

However, i agree that they should be a major force in World football.

Sadly, for its size and history, the current Russian team is average as per world standards.

I would not be surprised if it was a draw (tie)

Most likely Russia will win.. Russia is very strong in soccer, has a rich history of it and great players...Qatar is just a semi-professional beginner...

And must be no bachelors allowed. And since wives aren't interested in Football the entire stadium will be empty.

Going by the experience that the football lovers went through during the Asian cup finals outside the stadium people would think twice before attending such events again
