QNB mini marathon was not organized!
There was a good crowd but very disappointing event management.... give-aways should have been inside the QNB backpack already(short, tumblers and register's running number). Not to put all participants lining up on separate booths just to get each item...
Then end all people where crazy grabbing what the could!
Also you mini marathon mentioned no athletes allowed but saw some African athlete like runners... who sprinted like speedy gonzales(a very fast rat cartoon).. :-(
Also the ladies category was also a dismay..many ladies complaining about pushing etc...
Hope the next marathon gets a good event manager...
good luck!
Yes, I was so tired after the marathon....:D
It was horrendous!! We registered, my children ran the whole race, and they almost got trampled on multiple times. The worst was near the finish line. Too many people cutting in the last few hundred meters, not even breathing hard claiming prizes. Kids on bikes and random people wandering in the finish line that poor runners were tripping and falling over them. When they tried to organize the starting line up, and let groups go in waves, some people who were supposed to go in the last wave snuck into the first and had a huge head start.
Even with all of that, the worst was after when we tried to claim a certificate that was given to all participants. My kids got numbers 30 and 35 after finishing the race, we walked to the tent and there were hundreds of people pushing and shoving (agin my 8 year old almost went down) we got to the front and were told "Halas! no more! Everyone go away!!!" I said we registered, they ran, we want the certificate! The organizers were yelling at everyone. I told them it was very simple. You had a count of people who registered, you have that amount of certificates -how can you be out if we registered??
I guess the same way that we had tickets for the Asian Cup final yet were denied entrance because it was full. What???
They let anyone run, regardless if you registered. Such a mess it was insane. But seriously, did we expect organization???
Marathon Runners SPAM
don't worry people, the qatar 2022 organising committee will have it sorted by 2030.
I participated yesterday in the marathon , despite the people who finished in shortcuts and the lack of organization , I managed to finish the marathon , for me it was good opportunity to circulate my blood and see new people since I work in design job which not allows me to move at all . What I want to say that let's hope that next year the organization will be better and that similar events will take place , and I hope that other people had fun also.
ALL COMMENTS WERE TRUE. AND WHAT MAKES ME FEEL REALLY DISAPPOINTED WAS ALLOWING PEOPLE W/OUT REGISTRATION TO JOIN THE RACE. WHAT IS THE USED OF ONLINE REGISTRATION W/ DEADLINE THEN??? IF THEY ALLOW ONLY W/REGISTRATION, I SHOULD HAVE A CHANCE LOL.
About the marathon yesterday, and I have to agree. It was so disorganised and people acted like thieves. There was a good crowd, but there were no ropes or officials keeping people back. And as posted in the other forum. people were just grabbing what they could. I think QNB was the sponsor, but who was the organizer? They should acquire organization skills next time before they try to organize anything. Especially anything on this scale. Up for grabs (I think these are around the value of prizes, please correct me if I am wrong) was QR25,000 for first place QR15,000 for second and QR5000 for third and QR2,000 consolation prize for the 4th to 20th places. I saw one woman join in the race 50 metres before the finish line and claim 11th place and QR2,000 - no one said anything. She clearly did not run the race as she was in heals and full abaya. The whole thing was a sham. There were so many disappointed people who were clearly there to give it their all and had been training for this event for months, and had been greatly let down. What a shame. I know that myself and many friends won't be joining in next year.
this race was very disorganized and the officials were seen shouting and yelling at people.
the scene after race was like the rich throwing coupons to poor people who were not having food and shelter for a week or more.
it was a sad story that despite of the huge turnout, there was nothing the officials did to make it a sporting event. people were running in what ever shortcuts they could and as mentioned there were many trained athletes who turned out.
almost all the age category races started at the same time which created confusion again.
lot of complaints from ladies and kids.
maybe the worst arrangements done for this sports day
I was there yesterday at the QNB mini-marathon. I agree that it was not a well-organized event. And after finishing the race, and as i was getting myself a water I overheard someone saying thanks to his coach... what??? he has a COACH? I thought it's only for amateur runners only?
... anyway, I enjoyed the event.
better.
all other events were very well organised on 1st QNSD.
Katara was the best of the lot.
This does not surprise me
