Rock climbing.

Good evening to all. I understand that there aren't too many of us out there who are interested in rock climbing in Qatar however the more people we can round up the better. After a bit of hunting on Facebook I found a group who do some climbing near Zekreet and Fuwairit, unfortunately the Facebook group doesn't seem to be too active so struggling to get in touch with them. What I had in mind was getting together sometime and trying to track down these routes that have been talked about, and we can brainstorm a bit to see what we can do to get some indoor facilities set up in Doha. Unfortunately the wall at Aspire is not open to the public when I checked three months ago and I seriously doubt it will be open in the near future. If you interested give me a call on 66290234.

I am more than interested in getting together to discuss possibilities.  My wife and I just moved to Doha about two weeks ago from Canada and all of my gear is on a boat somewhere on the Atlantic.  I've been climbing steady indoors and out for the last 4 years and don't intend to give it up anytime soon.  As I am currently unemployed my schedule is wide open if you would like to get together for a chat, we are located in the Al Sadd area.

Many thanks to all who have commented. I just think there might be a bit of a misunderstanding at this point in time. It will take a coulpe of months before we can actually put our climbing shoes on a rock. What I had in mind is all people interested getting this activity up and running and making it a regular excursion, should meet somewhere sometime soon to sit-down and chat about a few possibilities and potential indoor facilities. Also just what we want to do here in Qatar.

The more people that we can get climbing the better, so please keep sending me your comments.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've briefly had a look at city centre and not what I'm looking for. I'll have to have a look at the American School, was totally unaware of the facilities.

i am not a climber but know of these indoor venues where there are climbing walls. They are small but good to check out. Try the wall in the play area at city centre and the american school of Doha.
