Test cricket in a perilous state

Quite clearly from what i am seeing at Lords, if India are indeed the best Test match team in the world then Test match cricket is at an all time low. I sincerely hope that England put Indian Test cricket to the sword over the next few weeks and restore the true balance of world cricket.

Very poor from India - simply no back bone it would seem and not up for the necessary fight.

Normality has been restored and a team worthy of the title "BEST" are now in charge of World Test Cricket!!!

The basics of cricket, as the rule books and cricket coaches around the cricket world will tell, don't get over excited by a win or two. Remain grounded through out the course of your cricket career, is another lesson that one gets within a couple of hours of the start of traning as BASICS of cricket. However the fans don't understand this and this is not their fault, I must say.

England do not need to prove themselves on the sub continent to be declared the best test side in the world - a 2 clear test margin against the current "best" side in the world is enough - we all know that. Actually and I am looking at this through blue and red tinted specs, I see nothing in sub continent cricket to get excited about at all - home or away. As was said earlier, it IS cyclical - Eng have been in their trough - I was in Aus in 2007 and it was painfull but at least they were trying and they never gave up trying - my beef with this awful set of Indian cricketers is that they simply dont care and that to my mind is unacceptable. IMHO its time for Fletcher to get the brush out and go for a clean sweep - I dont want to hear about injuries or inexperience or any of those smoke and mirror excuses - they came and they are not preparaed ot interested - and by the by, I dont think it would matter which Indian side had turned up in the Uk, the England team is head and shoulders the superior of any Indian test team - Indian cricket in 2011 it seems to me is driven and besotted by the IPL. I rather suspect the the one day final in Bombay a while ago will be the last thing Indian cricket fans have to celebrate for in some years to come.

Its a great shame with respect to Indians who have commented here that more of the "fair weather" supporters who were more than vocal when India were winning the WC havent sen fit to come on this thread, eat some humble pie and admit that at the moment the team and Indian cricket in general is in the toilet and being absolutely dominated by the English.

No, I don't believe in alignment or misalignment of stars and all that crap. You missed my point rather.

U mean the stars are not  aligned in their favour. Al this crap and predictions add to nothing when the players themselves are not in a mood to perform. This players are on the way to giving Indian cricket a bad name. They are more like a bunch of school boys on a picnic and looking for opportunities to make an extra buck and not looking to win any games

Lets face it. A perfect confluence of factors have made India look like a club team against England. For one their already weak bowling looks very pathetic without Zaheer and Harbhajan giving you nothing. Their batting has also been terrible. However good batting alone is not enough to win in the swinging and seaming conditions in England. You need good pacers too and Zaheer (who is injured) apart the current indian seam attack is mediocre. Ishant is too inconsistent. PK is inexperienced at this level. You need atleast 2 or 3 Zaheers to do well here Sri Lanka had the same problem. Their batting was okish except for one innings but they lacked a potent pace/seam attack That being said this English attack is not lethal by any means. It is not more than decent. For starters they lack serious pace. The same seamers I can almost guarantee you would look pretty ordinary on the slow sub-continental pitches. But Anderson and co. know how to make the best use of seaming conditions in EnglandEngland is a fine team and all that but Id like to see them in the subcontinent before crowning them #1.

Its all cyclic. Perhaps India have rested on their laurels, but on current form England deserve to be No 1.

Birmingham: England pacer Tim Bresnan has asked India to show 'more desire' if they wish to succeed in the cold weather here."It'd help if India's fielders didn't have their hands in their pockets. It's not that cold. They need to look interested (in play) and show some desire. If you don't want to be here, go home," he said on Wednesday.

indian players are half cricketer half models , doing the ads and making money is much more easy than palying 5 days and winning a match from a good team,

becmoing # 1 test team was just the favour from ICC , paly in india , srilanka , bangladesh and become # 1 , no thats not the ranking , play all over the world then prove ur self , they simply dont have the bowlers to take 20 wickets , how they can win a test match,

They could always blame the riots in London and bad event management by the British for their disastrous performances but the funny thing is that the Indian team still has plenty of time to attend charity gatherings where they can collect lots of money for their private projects.

The problem with the Indians is that they have so much talent back home but they want to continue with Tendulkar, laxman, Dravid, Shewag, etc. This players  have had their days and are now more on the pitch playing the game not for the love of cricket or country but for  the advetising money they can make back home.

Day 2 of the Test Match and India are already over 200 behind on a first innings that isnt yet half over - Tendulkar is bowling and that just about says it all.  India look miserable, tired and have clearly lost the will to live - desperate to get home. They are 2 tests down, way behind in the third, - they shouldnt have gone to England to play - they are an utter disgrace to their country and to the cricket loving folk of India - I sincerely hope that heads will roll. Poorly prepared and poorly represented.

They should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

India are ranked as the best Test team in world cricket. They had England two men down and still in arrears this time on Sunday. And yet now England's eight and nine are smashing their attack all over the place in a manner that would embarrass Bangladesh.

Yeah congrats England won as the Indians were more busy with their advertising contracts and the money they would be making from them  compared to the peanuts they would be receiving for going and slogging it out in England of all places
