Oh dear, this is Islamic Country. People are being asked to dress properly in the public.
Never see any lady riding bicycle here in Doha, NEITHER WITH SHORT! just watch out police might catch you for this.
Once I was teaching my son to ride his bicycle at the Corniche ( I am a well covered lady) I didnt even ride it yet, I just sit on it and put my one leg to the pedal and there one security guard coming and screaming at me saying " haraaaammm !!!"
I was so upset, I am from Moslem country as well, but we allowed to ride anything and we are well covered .. :D
Yes there are women cyclists but the big problem is that cyclists (of any gender) are generally considered "targets" by motor vehicles. Doha is not a cycle friendly city in any way. The only time motor vehicles give way is during the Tour de Doha and then it's a motorcade of police Land Cruisers, motorcycles, the cyclists support vehicles etc. and the roads are closed.
I do know there are some who bravely venture out, usually on Friday mornings when traffic is light. But it's not something I would recommend to anyone, no matter how much experience or how comfortable they feel in non GCC traffic. The drivers here are 95% idiots who do not recognize ANY traffic rules except when there is a camera or radar about.
where have you been? its all over the news last time.. anyway i am just kidding, of course they are wearing cycling shorts. and they have legs more muscular than mine. =(
