The Doha Metro Red Line South, which is embedded within the larger railway network in Qatar, welcomed its first set of commuters on May 8, 2019.

Since its inception, Metro ridership has set a record of 1,082,112 during the months of July and August. 518,535 people used the Metro in July while the number increased to 563,577 by August.

Qatar Rail thanks all the passenger for traveling with Doha Metro.

The current train service is open from Sunday to Thursday, between 8 am and 11 pm.

Three types of travel cards can be used to ride the Metro - Standard Travel, Gold Club and Limited Use.

The fee for acquiring a Standard Travel card is QAR 10 while the Goldclub card costs QR100 (valid for five years from the date of purchase); credits for travel have to be added on to these cards. Children aged below five can travel for free.
