Pak Navy ship to visit Doha
Pakistan Navy (PN) ship Babur (pictured) will be on a goodwill visit to Doha from December 5, a spokesperson for Pakistan embassy said yesterday.
PNS Babur (formerly HMS Amazon) was the lead ship of its class (type 21) frigate when launched on April 26, 1971 at Woolston Yard, Southampton.
The present PNS Babur was commissioned on September 30, 1993 at Davenport, UK and is designed to provide effective defence against attacks by surface ships or submarines. PNS Babur is the frontline destroyer of PN, the official said.
It is currently led by commanding officer Captain Azhar Naeem who joined PN in 1985. The flight commander for PNS Babur is Lt Salman Hussain.
“A series of receptions will be held onboard the ship,” the official said.
