I'm not sure how the rant about killer bees has anything to do with anything, but it did make me laugh :)
There is nothing wrong with asking about safety, I had similar questions and concerns before moving here from the states in Oct. 2004. If you move here, in the beginning you'll be wary of things, but as time goes on you'll realize that things are relatively safe.
Make sure to bring along all of that killer bee safety equipment that the US government convinced you to buy directly from them though, because it will come in handy against these giant killer camel flies. They're bigger and meaner than those puny horse flies in the states, so don't forget to bring the full beekeeper suit and you'll be safe as can be :)
