I think the change should be the choice of the business, not government policy. If a business wanted to be open, they should be allowed to, if you are going to have rules, only the time for prayer should be mandated.
If all the shops at City Center wanted to open at 8:00 on Friday morning, close from 11:00 till 1:00 and open back up, it should be allowed. If a bank wanted to go to a 7 day work week, just for customer service (what a concept), then they should. As more companies start to compete for customers, things will change, will Qtel be different and more customer friendly when we finally get another mobile phone group here?
Why can't a store that serves the expat community be open different hours, why does the government decide on the business hours, let the customers decide what they want.
When we talk about Friday being the Muslim holy day, is it really the whole day or only certain hours. How can we have a world track meet on Friday if it is only for Muslim worship. Friday is just a day, how you spend it is your business.
