Ol Dubya isn't exactly an export of which most Americans with a passport are proud. A coupl'a months ago I spent some time in New Hampshire, Washington DC and Maryland. My none-too-scientific assessment of the two states and DC was that they are democrat heartlands which have a rather snobbish, reasonably educated, globally aware populace. They are embarrassed about George W and see him as a dilettante. Curiously enough, Republicans don't think he's fantastic - but they had nobody better financially supported when he ran.

Perhaps next time, America will vote into office a man (or woman!!) whose actually been abroad before!
