Al Khor Community's school is good, I hear, and the Western social scene isn't *that* bad. There's a plush club with a few organised activities: yoga, bridge . . . Drinking is in people's homes, but then that's how most Doha residents socialise, at least in my circles. It's cheaper, for a start.
I compare Al Khor Comunity to a very middle class suburb with a nice community centre but no pub, and an hour's drive to the nearest off-licence or cinema.
