You are right about Holland. They do allow some drugs (marijuana) to be consumed in licensed cafes. Also gay marriages are allowed. They are also allowed in the UK but they are not called marriages they are called Civil Partnerships.
Civil Partnerships are not called marriages as marriage has a religious connotation and most Christians do not believe in gay marriages (at least not in the religious sense).
There are such huge cultural differences around the world and such potential for misunderstanding. For me, the real value of these forums is to get an understanding of these cultural differences. With understanding, tolerance usually follows.
