I didn't file for 6 years. I often think that I will never live in the US again. But I still have family there and one day (not soon I hope) I will inherit property. One way or another the IRS will get me. The only way I can get out of it is to give up my US citizenship.

So after a long time of not filing, I did. I did a deal with the IRS and paid up!
