I have lived in UAE and have friends who have lived in Fujairah for 5+ years.

Fujairah has 2 traffic lights and very little traffic during most of the day. There are 3 hypermarkets of any size Lulu, Al Safeer and D&K?. Other supermarkets include Choithram and Giant/Geant which are smaller than the hypermarkets. Entertainment? Not so much. There's lots to do if you enjoy getting out into the mountains or going to the beach. But it's no Dubai/Abu Dhabi or Sharjah for that matter.

If you're looking for 5* meals and amenities, the Hilton bills itself as 5* and charges accordingly, but is not worth it. The Siji has a nice restaurant and gym facilities and there is a new tennis club but they're all overpriced for the area IMHO.

Schooling can be an issue depending on your nationality. There are a few Indian based curriculum schools, a Pakistani school and 1 British based school (but is generally not thought of as being up to a suitable standard by some parents after grade 8 or 9)

Hope that helps.
