Usually I hate these "marketing days". You know Grandpa Day,Be nice to Children Day and all the other stupid things that Hallmark and the other greetings card companies dream up to sell their sickly cards.
International Womens Day is a little different though. I came across this when I was living in Russia. The idea is that you review and appreciate everything that women do, take over their obligations for the day and appreciate their often under-valued contribution.
