The E 46 (1998-2005 models) 4 cylinder have tranmission problems. One should not put the vehicle in the sport mode (triptronic side) at high speeds- you will get a tranmission problem which will set you back around QR 20,000 for a new one. BMW is aware of this but will never inform you untill you get a problem. Try and get a 6 cylinder inline E46 models. Those are excellent and have less engine and tranmission problems than the 4 cylinder.Telling you from personal expeirence
