The boric acid is good...only we use just the powdered version..sprinkle it in and around sinks, doors, caabinets and any outside opening. The walk through it, and when they go back to their nest, they clean their feet, thus ingesting the powder. Its relatively harmless to humans unless eaten in large quantities.
You can also make ant poison tubes with it. Mix a bit with peanut butter and mint jelly, stuff into drinking straws and cut about 1 inch lengths...place where you see ants..they love this stuff!! They take it back to the next and feed it to the queen, which then dies and the whole colony is gone.
