There's no party so to speak. Since India is such a diverse nation, its really amazing to see everyone one common platform. I guess the driving factor here is the unity of people and patriotism
Its a celebration of the what the country has achieved in last 60 years despite our own share of problems. Dedication the the freedom fighters who have done the hardwork that we are reaping benefits from. Also the those soldiers in the Army, Navy and Air Force who have put their lives on lines for our sake.
I might not have described it all that well, but to sum it up its a very patriotic feeling. You need to be an Indian to feel the celebration! :)
