Why don't you start by looking at the puppies that are already here in Qatar. QAWS always has puppies and there are hundreds of dogs that are looking for new homes without adding more!

Some of the restricted breeds are: rottweilers, dobermans, bulldogs, shar peis, pitbulls, bull terriers, chows, great danes, mastiffs, akitas, rhodesian ridgebacks, boer boels, boxers, staffies.

It is also not possible to import a puppy under the age of 16 weeks and they have to fully vaccinated and travel in airline approved crates, following all of the international standards regarding pet travel.

Please make sure you are ready for a puppy before you take one on. They are a commitment of a minimum of 10 years, you would have to be prepared to take them with you when you leave the country, and they are not suited to people who work full-time.

The majority of purebred dogs that come into QAWS were bought as puppies from abroad and the owners weren't prepared for the time or money commitments involved so dump them as soon as they become a problem. They normally end up at QAWS as 10 month old boisterous, un-neutered dogs that have had no training.

If you have the time, money and commitment to take on a puppy and are ready for the mess, destruction and training then please visit QAWS to meet the dogs at the shelter.
