You should calculate what you would want to earn if you are out of your country, taking taxes into account.
If you make 15,000 US$/month, subtract all your monthly expenses and then multiply the remaining figure by 2. This way you are aiming to save double what you get in the USA.
At least, that's how I calculate it.
