Qatar hero's comments are true in the main, but as a man i could not confirm the part regarding attention from Arab males - i have had none and do not want any lol. Qatar can amaze you one day and infuriate you the next it is conservative and progressive in the same breath, you have freedom and restriction at the same time.
As a western female you will be fine and able to make a comfortable and enjoyable life here in Doha. My wife is Irish and both her and the kids love it after being quite retiscent in the first place. It is safe here, you can drive (unlike Saudi)you do not have to wear an Abaya (like Saudi) but should dress conservatively although in the clubs i have seen much the same as the UK.
If you decide to give it a go just keep an open mind and be prepared to accept that this is Qatar.
