More important than the Ghz clockspeed is the processor that is powering those two laptops.
I cannot believe that Dell is cheaper than Acer. Dell products are much highly rated than Acer for sure. Even though the above configuration given of Acer is higher than Dell's, I still think a lower configuration laptop would be of same prices as that of an Acer. Please ensure that you are buying the laptop with latest processor, i.e. Intel Pentium Core "2" Duo.
Anyday go for a Dell.
