We have just arrived in Doha , 10 days ago ,and we are living in a compound for a short time until we move into a stand alone villa. We have a large dog and so far it has been fine. We have to leash him inside the compound but there is plenty of room outside the compound to let him off the leash. These are mainly void spaces or plots of land which are scheduled to be built on.
From what I understand , locals are not keen on dogs, but I guess as long as you are sensible , should not be a problem. You would have to see what accomodation you can source to see whether you will have yard space and I guess each compound will have their own rules. So far , no issues for us.
We had a very good experience with the tranportation and handling of the importation at this end using a lady called Janet Berry of Qatar Pet Relocations. You can google her.
