The fee seems to be QAR250 now to switch a valid country license (like UK) to a Qatar license. (Either that or even the authorities are taking a dip into the ex-pat pocket). The process only takes ten minutes and you will get your card immediately. You will have to provide a signed/stamped etc eye test from the hospital (you'll need your ID and a photo to take the eye test), and then at the traffic place; another photo, country license and Qatar ID, a copy of country license and Qatar ID (front and back) and some papers from work (a no objection letter and company cr copy otherwise known as the computer papers sometimes they will complete you application too - they did for me).
