As Aimee is obviously far too diplomatic and polite to answer in a direct and succinct manner, let me attempt to clarify: 1) If you have to ask for a definition of a Western expat, then you're not one, so don't bother replying. 2) Going by the grammatical indications in the replies posted to date, I would say that 90% of correspondents are not Western expats.
