Shuaibkazi... as far as I know long hair is prescribed so that a Sikh cannot remain undistinguishable from people of other relegions. how can he hide himself with hair and turban on his head and with a flowing beard?
and your reasoning for their not cutting the hair(hiding the sword ) sounds quite comic as I am yet to see a sikh who would hide his 'kripan' inside his hair (for killing a muslim or whatever other purpose)even if it was possible to do so.
I do know quite a few sikhs n they have come across as quite nice people in my experience. Also the custom of long hair is less prevalent among them as far as I know.
