Qatar has a long way to go before they will ever be in the ball park of being able to host such an international event. Sure they hosted the asian games but that is no were near what it will take to host a summer olympics. Qatar will have to come to grips with some issues first as well, some of those but not limited to are:

Alcohol - Qatar would need to allow for more public bars and clubs that are not attached to hotels to serve alcohol. before anyone starts that this is a muslim country the fact is over half the countries competing in the games are not muslim and do enjoy an alcolic beverage espesially if they have something to celebrate, with these countries not only come the athletes but delegates (who don't have to obstain from drinking as they are not competing), family and friends,Supporters and just the general tourists that will be here to watch.

Public Transport - There is no real public transport in Qatar. Sure they have a Bus service but the sad truth is it is only used by labourers, I have yet to see or meet any westerner who has used it.

Banned Animal Products(OK i think we all know what product) - Again don't jump down my throat that this is a muslim country, as again I will say this is an international event and these allowances will have to be made.

Public Facilities - this is directly related to the lack of public toilets in and around Doha. I dont want to hear that I can go to a mosque and use theirs as I see it and a lot of other nationalities will too a Mosque is a place of worship and should be respected not a public toilet.

I have read a lot that Qatar only missed out and was second in line too, the truth is don't always believe what you read the IOC will only publish a certain amount of material and only that which they deem will not incite outcry angain it is an international company that dose not want to be involved in an international inccident. It might also help for some of you too know like any orginisation they don't just fall for they roll out the red carpet anytime a deligate is in town, they adopt a method not that disimilar to the mystery shopper, They send people to act as tourists who rate and report on the country which is taken into consideration when short listing, so ask yourself this if you were a tourist coming to Qatar what would you say about it?
