Dweller, i really tried........your explanation is fuzzy hence can't figure it out.

All i know is that airline, like any other transport company will try the most out of a possible situation. For example when you have a lay-over, it becomes more expensive than an immediate connection.

On the other hand, one can argue that why not buy dubai fare then drop off at Doha? Then what haappens to your luggage that has been tagged to end the journey in dubai and what happens to your return ticket?????????

I guess competition also has alot to play in such scenerios, however, airlines makes such tickets so restrictive that more than half the passangers end up passangers end up paying fines for not showing up or change of dates etc. And that's their catch.

It's just like going to the malls to buy stuff that is on sale but has no return policy etc
