I've only been here through one winter but I was surprised about the temperature. Not so much outside (lowest 15-18)but how chilly my apartment stayed. Bought a heater for my daughter's room (40US) and it took the chill off. My neighbors had a better one that kept their living room feeling pretty good (maybe 50-60US). But,after what you'll experience when you first get here, you'll enjoy it no matter how cold it feels. I would say buy a heater here, not too crazy expensive and the correct voltage (220V). Depending on where you're from clothes-wise: maybe a couple of light sweatshirts/sweaters, light jacket, long sleeve dress and casual shirts. A few heavier pants too, I have 2 pairs of Carhartts that I wore for Jan- Feb then back to the draws. You'll get some use out of them for 2-3 months. When you first get here, you just look at them absurdly. The day will come. You can buy heavier clothes here too and if you're tight on luggage space something to think about, but if not, buy or bring from home.
