Agree with mufy on the state of roads in the industrial area...they r quite primitive, but dont know how much of that was a cause for being denied the 2016.

I believe, what Qatar has been trying to sell was its 'ability' to host the olympics. May be if they had sold 'Qatar' as a destination, a place to be, as a place that can live the age old spirit of Olympics.... I do not know how much was done in those lines.

Also, one cannot focus the development of infrastructure on one particular event, no matter how great the event is. Events will come and go but what comes after is as impotant. Once the 'sustainable development ' of infrastructure is well on its way ,as a part of an overall plan for the region, I believe that 'summers' wont come in the way of Qatar's dream to host the Olympics. lets look forward for 2020/2024.

As for terrorism, I do not believe any part of the world can be immune to the threat.
