The course your referring to does not certify you it is usually only a day thing they give you the basics in the morning and take you for a limited dive in the arvo usually only down to a depth of 5 meters if open water, and is a one off deal. A full course is usually 4 full days of theory, plus and added 8 to 16hrs in the water depending on what system you learn with. Don't forget you also need a Dive Medical before you'll be allowed to dive beyond 5 m that's why its called an introductory course it gives you the taste for it, most course will be upwards of QR 3000 for certification.
